The national challenge “10 million steps for the heart” continues until September 25, 2026. Launched by the Beninese association Au Cœur de la Vie, it invites participants to accumulate their steps using the DIZONLI app, with a collective goal set at 10 million.

To join the challenge, users must install DIZONLI, create an account, search for the group “KERMESSE DU CŒUR,” and then activate the challenge in the Challenge space. The association specifies that steps are only counted after pressing the “Start the challenge” button.

The mobilization leads to the fourth Kermesse du Cœur, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, at the Majestic Cinema, formerly Canal Olympia, in Cotonou. Admission is free, and free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index, and waist circumference are announced.

The day will begin at 7:00 am with cardio-dance, followed by a talk show on cardiovascular prevention and training in first aid techniques. The program also includes a space dedicated to congenital heart diseases in children and a relaxation area focused on stress management.

The format combines movement, health information, and practical actions rather than being solely focused on consultations. Organizers remind participants that the screenings offered on-site do not replace a medical consultation when one is necessary.

The local context adds significance to the initiative. In April 2026, the Africa office of the World Health Organization noted that in Benin, the STEPS 2023 survey estimated the prevalence of hypertension at 19.2%, in a country where cardiovascular diseases rank among the leading non-communicable diseases monitored by health authorities.

The results of the challenge will be announced on September 25, ahead of the prize distribution the following day during the Kermesse. While registration facilitates attendance, access to the event on September 26 remains open according to the organizers.
