“Nothing is lost…,” Jude Lodjou backs LD party activists
In an emotional message, Jude Lodjou addressed the Beninese after the rejection of the Les Démocrates party’s candidacy for the 2026 presidential election. The former MP and party official said he spoke “with a heavy heart, but a calm mind,” asserting that he was not speaking “as a defeated man, but as a man standing and dignified.”

He acknowledged the disappointment and pain of his supporters, while urging them to keep hope. “I understand you and share your sadness,” he confided before stressing that this disqualification was not due to a lack of merit, but to their convictions.
“Our candidacy was rejected, not because we were unworthy, but because our ideal disturbs,” Jude Lodjou said, arguing that their vision of a just, fair, humane and democratic Benin worried “those who want the people silenced” and “those who confuse the Republic with their personal interests.”
Despite the setback, the politician calls for restraint and nobility in the struggle. “We have chosen not to respond with hatred. We have chosen dignity. Because dignity is the finest weapon of free people.”
He finally urged his supporters not to lose heart. “Nothing is lost,” he affirmed, reminding that the fight for democratic values and justice in Benin continues.
