“My son is a big fan of yours,” Trump’s heartfelt tribute to CR7 at the White House
At an official dinner at the White House, Donald Trump praised Cristiano Ronaldo and revealed that his son Barron was a fervent admirer of the Portuguese star.

U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that his son, Barron Trump, was a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. The anecdote was mentioned Tuesday evening at the White House, where the Portuguese star was honored at an official dinner. In Washington as part of the delegation accompanying Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Ronaldo – captain of Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League – traveled with his partner, Georgina Rodriguez. Dressed in a black tuxedo, the 40-year-old forward was seen alongside high-profile guests, including Elon Musk and American vice president JD Vance.
During his speech, Trump praised the presence of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, recalling that Barron, a football enthusiast, had already had the chance to meet his idol. “This room brings together major figures from the worlds of business and sport… My son is a big fan of Ronaldo. He had the chance to meet him, and I think he respects me a little more now because of that,” joked the president, warmly thanking the player.
Suspended after his sending-off against Ireland during the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Ronaldo did not take part in Portugal’s win over Armenia on Sunday, a victory that definitively sealed Portugal’s place at the World Cup held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
