Pahou: 3 sellers of “magic” wallets arrested, fake banknotes seized
Three individuals were arrested in Pahou as part of a police operation linked to a supernatural scam.

The suspects, accused of selling “magical” wallets, were in possession of 500,000 FCFA in counterfeit money, according to official sources.
According to investigators, these wallets promised mystical powers to customers, allegedly enabling, the scammers claimed, the “production” of money. The scheme relied on creating the illusion of a supernatural phenomenon to deceive gullible people.
The National Police, alerted by witness accounts, seized the counterfeit bills during a search. The case is now in the hands of the judicial authorities, who must determine the scope of the network and the number of victims.
This arrest illustrates the persistence of fraudulent practices combining spirituality and scams in Benin, and raises questions about citizens’ vigilance in the face of unrealistic promises.
