Climate Chance Africa Summit: Benin establishes itself as a leader in ecological transitions
Benin’s economic capital on Monday hosted the 6th edition of the Climate Chance Africa Summit, a major gathering of non-state climate actors.

Under the theme “Renewable energy, adaptation and biodiversity: challenges and perspectives,” the event puts Benin in the spotlight as a key player in ecological transitions in Africa.
Organized jointly by Cotonou City Hall and the association Climate Chance, the summit brings together more than 1,000 participants from Africa, Europe and beyond: local authorities, NGOs, companies, researchers and young civil society actors.
The mayor of Cotonou, Luc Atrokpo, addressed participants as follows: “We refuse to be passive; we choose to act.” He emphasized that Benin, exposed to the effects of climate change, intends to turn this vulnerability into an opportunity for innovation and resilience.
One of the summit’s main objectives is to promote increased cooperation among coastal cities in West and Central Africa, and to drive solutions that mobilize local, private and public stakeholders.
By hosting this high-profile event, Benin more than ever asserts its ambition to become a leading player in energy and ecological transitions in Africa.
