In a statement on his digital channels, the communications head of the party Les Démocrates
praised Me Agbodjo’s trajectory, which he described as “an emerging figure of courage and conviction”, saying that his decision amounted to “a loss for the party.”

He nevertheless called on activists and supporters not to scatter: ” Now is not the time to give up or to feed internal divisions. Our fight for justice, democracy and political alternation continues ,” he insisted.

Mr. Mitokpè’s statement comes as Les Démocrates go through a particularly delicate period, marked by the non-validation of their candidate duo and the ensuing internal turmoil.

He also reminded that “the true strength of a party lies in its unity, its ability to overcome challenges and to remain focused on the interests of the Beninese people”.
