AFCON 2025 : Nigeria to face Egypt in a friendly
With less than a month to go before the kick-off of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are fine-tuning their preparations. According to the media outlet Daily Post, the Nigerian side will face Egypt in a high-profile friendly scheduled for Sunday 14 December at the Cairo International Stadium.

Finidi George’s men will open their training camp four days before the match, aiming to fine-tune their on-field understanding before their start in the continental competition. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah’s Egypt will take part next month in an international tournament in Dubai, bringing together four teams: Uzbekistan, Iran, Cape Verde and the Pharaohs. A series of tough tests for the seven-time African champions, eager to arrive in Morocco full of confidence.
During the group stage of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria will be in Group C alongside Uganda, Tunisia and Tanzania. Egypt, meanwhile, will feature in Group B, where they will meet South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe. A friendly fixture that already promises sparks between two of the continent’s most decorated nations, and a taste of the African battles to come.
