CHAN 2025: CAF unveils the official tournament schedule

One month before the kickoff of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) which will take place from August 2 to August 30, 2025, in East Africa, preparations are well underway. On its part, the CAF is putting great effort into ensuring the success of this sporting event. The African body has just unveiled the official program of the tournament.

The continental competition reserved for players participating in local championships will start on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The opening match will pit the host country against the Burkina Faso team, at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium, at 8:00 pm local time (5:00 pm GMT).

The following day, Sunday, August 3, the Kenyan capital Nairobi will vibrate to the rhythm of two matches. At 3:00 pm (12:00 pm GMT), Kenya will make its debut against the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the Moi International Sports Center. A little later, at 6:00 pm (3:00 pm GMT), Morocco will challenge Angola at the Nyayo stadium.

The Sunday’s events will close in Dar es Salaam where, at 8:00 pm (5:00 pm GMT), Madagascar will face Mauritania, still at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium. The actions will kick off in Kampala on Monday, August 4, 2025. The Mandela stadium will host two matches: Niger against Guinea at 5:00 pm (2:00 pm GMT), then Uganda, co-organizing country, will face off with Algeria at 8:00 pm (5:00 pm GMT).

The match for the third place will be played on Friday, August 29 at the Mandela stadium in Kampala, with kickoff planned for 6:00 pm (3:00 pm GMT). The grand final of CHAN 2025 will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi, in the suburb of Kasarani, at 6:00 pm local time (3:00 pm GMT).
