Death of Pope Francis: Reaction from French President Emmanuel Macron

- Publicité-

French President Emmanuel Macron has responded to the death of Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88.

Weakened in recent months by an infectious pneumonia, Pope Francis ultimately laid down his burden. The Supreme Pontiff died on Monday at the age of 88. The somber news was announced by the Vatican in an official statement published on its website.

On social media, the death of the Holy Father has been widely commented upon. Numerous tributes have poured in online to honor the Argentine pope. On his X account, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences and paid tribute to the Pope’s commitment to the underprivileged and to human unity.

“From Buenos Aires to Rome, Pope Francis wanted the Church to bring joy and hope to the poor. To unite people with one another and with nature. May that hope continue to rise beyond him. To all Catholics and a grieving world, my wife and I send our heartfelt thoughts,” the French leader posted.

Appointed head of the Vatican in 2013 following the resignation of Benedict XVI, Pope Francis dedicated his pontificate to modernizing the Church and advocating for solidarity—particularly toward migrants.
