Benin: third group of stranded migrants in Algeria expected in Cotonou this Thursday

- Publicité-

In Benin, authorities are expecting a third group of 150 migrants stranded in Algeria. A delegation from the Beninese Ministry of Foreign Affairs traveled earlier this week to coordinate their repatriation.

This latest group of distressed migrants marks the third cohort. The 150 Beninese nationals are expected to arrive in Cotonou on Thursday, April 17, 2025, on a special flight scheduled to land in the afternoon at Cardinal Bernardin Gantin International Airport.

It’s worth recalling that in December 2024, the first flight carrying 150 Beninese migrants in difficult conditions in Algeria landed at Cotonou International Airport. That was followed by a second group of 101 migrants on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

Upon arrival in Cotonou, they were received by welcoming teams and transported by bus to a local hotel for temporary accommodation.
