25 years after its release, the iconic Ivorian group Magic System’s hit “1er Gaou” has been certified Gold, thanks to the remix released three years ago.

Magic System, the renowned Ivorian group, continues to captivate listeners with their timeless track “1er Gaou,” even a quarter-century after its release. Originating from Anoumabo, this iconic song has been covered by various international artists and DJs, including the famous Congolese singer Koffi Olomidé and celebrated French DJ Bob Sinclar. Their reissued album featuring a remix of this hit was a massive success, selling over 100,000 copies and helping the group earn a double Gold certification for the album and singles.

In 2021, a new version was produced by the Haitian DJ Francis Mercier, based in New York, bringing a techno-house twist to the track. This dance version also achieved tremendous success, receiving a Gold certification after amassing over 15 million streams across various download platforms. A’salfo, the group’s lead singer, expressed his excitement and pride on social media, sharing a photo of himself holding the certificate. “Great news: The ‘1er Gaou’ remix by New York DJ Francis Mercier has just been certified Gold with over 15 million streams. What a pleasure to continue reaping awards for this emblematic title 25 years after its release,” he wrote.

Following the post, there was a flurry of congratulatory messages in the comments. “The juice in this song will never end… 25 years later… Congratulations Boss,” “Great job. I hear it in several places here in the United States,” “A masterpiece remains forever. Bravo and congratulations to Magic System,” were among the comments.
