Presidential Elections in Senegal: Bassirou Diomaye Faye Receives Congratulations from ECOWAS

Following his victory in the presidential election on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has received congratulations from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) extended congratulations to Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, following his victory in the presidential election on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in Senegal. “On behalf of the ECOWAS institutions, I have the honor to express to you my sincere congratulations on your election to the high office of President of the Republic of Senegal,” stated the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray.

He continued by adding: “I also commend the Senegalese people and the republican institutions for the serenity and maturity with which the election was conducted, judged to be free, transparent, and peaceful.”

The leader of the Commission of the regional organization expressed his conviction that Bassirou Diomaye Faye, given his various statements, will succeed in promoting cohesion and national integration by serving as president to all Senegalese, including those affiliated with different political parties.

“For my part, I wish to assure you (…) of ECOWAS’s commitment to working with you in the best interests of Senegal, the ECOWAS region, and Africa as a whole,” Dr. Omar Alieu Touray concluded.
